Hours of work and annual leave

Inspectorate staff normally work a 5-day week of 42 hours, including lunch breaks. A flexible working hours scheme is available for administrative staff.

The current annual leave allowance is 30 days. In addition to the normal public holidays, Inspectorate staff are entitled to 2½ days privilege holidays.

Pensions

All Inspectorate staff are eligible to join the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme.

Other benefits

The Inspectorate's Cardiff office is located in Cathays Park within the Civic Centre, close to the shopping areas of Queens Street and St David's Centre. The Cathays Park railway station is just five minutes walk from the office, with links to the main line services. Bus services are also nearby and there are several car parks close to the office.

The Inspectorate's Bristol offices are currently located in Temple Quay, which is situated next to Temple Meads railway station.

We also offer a no smoking working environment, and interest free bus/train season ticket loans after a qualifying period.

In general, we can accept applications for jobs in the Inspectorate only from:-

  • Commonwealth citizens
  • British protected persons
  • Citizens of the Republic of Ireland
  • EU nationals
